2-star to play 2 sports at FIU

Bennett will play both sports for the Florida International Panthers, where he committed in mid-July.

"They said I can play baseball too so that was a big selling point," said the 6-foot, 205-pound Bennett, who will double as an outfielder for the Panthers' baseball team. "I like the atmosphere there. The coaches and everyone there make it seem like a real family."

Other schools including Florida Atlantic, Pennsylvania and Eastern Carolina were in the mix, but once the Panthers entered the picture they immediately shot to the top.

"It's a great school, great program, great coaches and just overall they're growing in general," he said. "It just seemed like a great fit for me. It's in a good location down in south Florida, they have a great team and a young coach. I get along with them great and I'm just really looking forward to getting out there."
